London Tennis Show 2010 logoTennis  joined the successful Golf Show at the Excel from 30 April until 2 May, 2010 and all manner of products, services and activities were there.

The show is supported by the LTA and the Tennis Foundation as well as the major brands and independent traders, while TIA UK Members receive preferential rates.

The launch of this Show alongside the successful and popular Golf Show is the single most important opportunity that the industry and the sport has to showcase everything "Tennis" under one roof to the tennis public.

A consumer show with a trade element, the show demonstrates tennis as a  vibrant and dynamic sport where all stakeholders come together to pro-actively promote their commitment to growing and developing tennis, generating sales, new leads and network opportunities and building memberships and awareness.

Tennis Outlook

The TIA UK's new trade journal for the promotion of tennis products and services was first published in December 2009.

Both MembeTennis Outlook launch issue coverrs and non-members can advertise in this newspaper, which contains news coverage and features on current industry issues, research findings, best practice reports from overseas, interviews with prominent figures, features on individual market segments, letters to the editor, and invitations to tender for tennis-related contracts as well as display advertising.

The Tennis Book 2010 

The latest edition of Tennis Book was published at the London Golf & Tennis Show in early May and printed copies are now being distributed widely to British tennis.

The book provides tennis people with a valuable reference resource for all things tennis.

The media reports that the owners of the Hawk-Eye ball-tracking technology, which leaves tennis and cricket fans on the edge of their seats, are putting up the company for sale.

The owners of the British company, Hawk-Eye Innovations, who include Mark Getty, the son of US-born philanthropist Sir Paul Getty, who bought into Hawk-Eye in 2006, want to attract a big company that can help the firm expand.

According to recent reports, tennis has moved out of the country club and turned into one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States as Americans looking for a cheap pastime in a bad economy have hit the courts.

On the professional circuit, apparently, if recent viewership trends are any indication, not as many Americans will tune in as they did in years past.

The US network of 15,000 teaching pros encompassed within the USPTA is helping children and those of all ages get fit through tennis programs.

In support of the first National Childhood Obesity Awareness Month, the United States Professional Tennis Association has joined the fight against childhood obesity, encouraging children to play tennis because it is fun, easy exercise.

Tennis sponsorship up 3% to $600m in 2010 but new WTA Tour sponsor Oriflame faces shutdown in Iran

Recently, IEG Sponsorship Report revealed that worldwide sponsorship spending on amateur and professional tennis tournaments, leagues and sanctioning bodies is expected to total $600 million in 2010.

This represents a 3.2% increase from 2009 and includes global, national and local deals.

Teddy Tennis, the British developed tennis programme for 3½ - 5½ year olds is being launched this week in North America ahead of the US Open.

Teaming up with Patricia Jensen, a renowned American tennis marketer, Teddy Tennis is launching its programme to a specially invited list of tennis professionals at the Courtside Racquet Club in Lebanon, New Jersey.

TIA UK publishes first collaborative Tennis Health Check for British Tennis

After several years of debate, the Tennis Industry Association UK has persuaded several statistical authorities to collaborate together to establish a regular Health Check for British tennis.

Entitled ‘The Health of GB Tennis', the report is the result of the collation of available information held by the Lawn Tennis Association, the Tennis Foundation, Tennis Scotland, Tennis Wales, Sport England, the Department for Children Schools and Families and IFM Sports Marketing Surveys.
