Aegon GB Davis Cup team announced to face Russia at Coventry

Britain's Davis Cup team was announced on Tuesday by Captain Leon Smith and will comprise of Jamie Baker, Colin Fleming, Jonny Marray and James Ward.

They face Russia in the Davis Cup by BNP Paribas Euro/Africa Zone Group I second round tie to be played at Coventry's Ricoh Arena from 5-7 April, 2013.

Wimbledon considers No 1 roof as nominated for Sports Industry Awards

It's that time of year when the buzz picks up ahead of the arrival of the professional tours in Europe, especially with the All England Lawn Tennis Club making headlines after officials confirmed on Friday that they are considering a proposal to build a roof on Court No 1.

According to a Daily Mail report, while yet to be formally approved, the success of the Centre Court roof, which cost the club around £100m, has prompted Wimbledon to examine the possibility of doing the same for the neighbouring 11,500-seat arena and a final decision could be taken as early as next month.

Primary school sport is set to be transformed thanks to a £150m-a-year boost that will improve coaching for the youngest pupils and inspire the Olympic and Paralympic stars of the future, the Prime Minister announced on Saturday.

Tennis players feature in the top 100 most powerful athletes on-and-off-the-field in 2013 compiled for Bloomberg Sports by CSE, a leading integrated marketing agency.

Britain's Andy Murray rose twenty-five places from 2011 with a power rating of 54.81 and while LeBron James, the American professional basketball player, headed the list at No 1, Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have stolen the headlines by being ranked fifth, sixth and twelfth respectively.

Teachers give top marks to Aegon Schools Tennis programme

The latest results are out from an annual impact survey independently conducted by leading pollsters YouGov showing that over 98% of schools (over 1,300 teachers) surveyed said that the Aegon Schools Tennis programme had helped them deliver tennis or more tennis at schools across the country.

The vast majority (90%) of schools reported that the programme was also helping them deliver more sport in general in their school.

His decision comes after one of the most outstanding years in the history of British tennis, both on and off court.
