

Steve Matthews is the Sales & Operations Director of David Lloyd Leisure (now incorporating Next Generation Clubs, the Harbour Club and Amida) and the association's Chairman.
He also serves as the industry's representative on the Council of the Lawn Tennis Association.
As a former international professional tennis player, he brings a wealth of experience and contacts to the Board.
He started out with David Lloyd Leisure plc as both a General Manager and Operations Manager before joining the Executive Board of NGC.
From 1982 he worked alongside David Lloyd to revolutionise the UK leisure industry with the development of a nation-wide group of racquets and health clubs.
Following the sale of David Lloyd Leisure to Whitbread in 1995, David's son, Scott, identified a substantial gap in the market for luxury, large scale, family-oriented leisure facilities and Next Generation Clubs Ltd was formed in 1996.
The company was subsequently acquired by London & Regional Properties in 2006.
On 6 June 2007, London & Regional Properties and Bank of Scotland Corporate, acting in partnership, announced the £925 million acquisition of David Lloyd Leisure Ltd from Whitbread Plc. in what was a highly competitive sale process for one of the UK's premiere leisure assets, beating interest from a number of trade and financial buyers.
The consortium subsequently integrated four brands into the business to create the leading racquets, health and fitness club group in the UK and Europe.
The combined entity now operates 88 clubs in the UK and across Europe providing premium health and fitness services via more than 10,000 exercise machines, over 3,000 exercise classes per week and unrivalled racquets facilities including 600 tennis courts, 100 badminton courts and 100 squash courts.
