IBM brings tennis fans closer to the action

Wimbledon might be steeped in tradition, but the All England Club continues to lead the way when it comes to digital innovation, too.

Celebrating its 25th year as an official partner of The Championships, IBM will be marking the milestone by using data to bring enhanced coverage to the event.

The wimbledon.com website, which received 19.7 million unique users during last year’s Championships, will allow users to create a personalised feed with news from their choice of players.

“We continue to look for new ways to innovate and strengthen our leadership position in the sports industry, and one of the ways we will do this is by delivering content and information about The Championships to fans in the way that they want to consume it, no matter where they are,” said Mick Desmond, commercial director at the All England Tennis Club.

“Working with IBM is a winning partnership because it allows us to create a unique digital environment that delivers stats, video and information to our fans whenever they want it on all devices and is the next best thing to being there.”
